Encosta De Lago / Golden Tulip
Shane Crawford Racing acquired their first racing prospect at the 2006 Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast. All associated are delighted with the choice as it is extremely well bred and a great mover that caught the eye of several industry experts. What we really loved about this colt was its beautiful nature and athletic look, which made us very eager to buy. Encosta de Lago has gone on to become one of the most sought after sires in Australia and in 2006 his service fee has increased to an amazing $176,000, a testament to his quality and proven success.

The Encosta de Lago/Golden Tulip colt will be trained by Lee Freedman, who brings his exceptional experience including training Encosta de Lago himself. Lee has had great results with the Encosta de Lago offspring, having Group success with “Öur Smokin Joe”, “Chong Tong”, “Brockmans Lass” and of course, the super star “Alinghi”. Alinghi was a winner of over $3million in her short career, before being sold for a further $3million to race in the United States. If anyone is going to get the most out of our colt, it is the Freedman Brothers who have a comprehensive background with this pedigree.
The dam, Golden Tulip was a talented race mare, winning three times on Melbourne metropolitan tracks, as well as being Stakes placed. She has so far produced two horses to race, for two winners and we are confident that this colt will be her best offspring yet.
Damon Gabbedy, Belmont Bloodstock:
“This colt is by red hot sire Encosta de Lago, his dam was a talented stakes placed Flemington winner and he is a great type who will run!”
